My crazy happenings

The past few weeks have flown by since I've been so busy, it's been kind of crazy. I can't believe it is going to be September tomorrow! Yeah for my birthday month though!! I'll give you the update on my life as I share some pictures. This is me and Becky at the Back-to-school retreat that we went on for my church's youth group. I already talked about it but I got this picture from a friend and love it. We were going down the huge slip-and-slide and thought it would be fun to start a mud fight:
On Thursday, my family and I flew to Midland and rented a car to drive to Lovington, NM for my Grandmother Irene's funeral. It was a beautiful grave-side service. It had turned out to be very nice outside and some of her friends and family came out to celebrate her life. I thought it was so neat to hear what other people had to say about her. She began losing her memory when I was about 12 or 13 so I didn't know her as well as some. Her friends talked mostly about how she loved the Lord and was very knowledgeable about the bible and taught bible class and mentored others in the church. I loved hearing that! They also talked about how she loved to host things like baby showers, wedding showers, teas, etc. I love to host things too! She was buried next to my grandfather who died before I was born and I got to see his grave too, I thought that was really neat. Although we were all sad to say bye to her, there is no doubt where she is! I was also glad that Matt and I were there for my Mom. It is very rare that the four of us are together by ourselves, here is my family at the cemetery:

On our way back to Midland there were several storms around us. We took the above picture from the window. Isn't it beautiful? I had forgotten just how pretty it can be there. And I wonder why I get car-sick in Dallas sometime haha!

On Sunday, I had a baby shower at my house for one of our friends, Marcie. It was so much fun! One of the girls in my immediate group of girlfriends let us know a few weeks ago that she is pregnant and now I expect all the dominoes to start falling. I bet in the next few years we have 20 babies born from our group at church. I can't wait! Here is the Mom and Hostesses:

Lastly, I bought a book today called 'For Women Only' by Shaunti Feldhahn. You can find it in the Christian section. It is about the way men think. I've only read the first chapter but great book so far. I'll share more when I'm finished!
